Modular Kitchen Cost in Hyderabad 2026: What You'll Actually Pay
If you've started collecting quotes for your kitchen, you've probably noticed the same thing everyone does — no two vendors quote the same number. One says ₹1.5 lakh, another says ₹6 lakh, for what sounds like the same kitchen. Here's why, and what a fair number actually looks like in 2026.
Cost by layout
Layout decides how much cabinetry and countertop you're paying for, so it's the biggest lever on your final bill.
- Straight kitchen — the most economical layout, ideal for compact 2BHK apartments. Roughly ₹1.8–3.5 lakh depending on finish.
- L-shaped kitchen — the most common choice in Hyderabad homes. Balances storage and cost well, typically ₹2.2–4.5 lakh.
- Parallel kitchen — good for narrow galley spaces, usually 20–30% more than a straight layout due to double the cabinet run.
- U-shaped kitchen — maximum storage, maximum cost. Expect ₹4–7 lakh and up for larger homes and villas.
Cost by material
This is where most of the confusion comes from — the "per sq ft" number changes completely depending on what's inside the cabinet, not just what you see on the shutter.
- Laminate on plywood/MDF — the budget-friendly starting point, but in Hyderabad's humidity, lower-grade cores can warp or attract termites within 6–8 years without proper moisture protection.
- BWR (boiling water resistant) plywood — the safer mid-range choice for our climate, with a much longer lifespan than MDF.
- Acrylic or PU finish shutters — the glossy, high-end look. Beautiful, but shows fingerprints and needs more careful daily wiping.
- Stainless steel / aluminium modular systems — the most durable option for heavy daily cooking, with the longest lifespan against Hyderabad's heat and humidity.
What actually moves the number, project to project
Two kitchens that look identical on paper can differ by ₹1–2 lakh once you factor in:
- Soft-close hinges and channels vs. standard hardware
- Built-in appliances (hob, chimney, oven) planned into the cabinetry vs. added later
- Custom sizing vs. standard modules
- Number of tall units, pull-out pantries, and corner storage solutions
Our honest advice before you sign anything
A per-sq-ft number without knowing your material and hardware is just a starting point for a conversation, not a final bill. Get an itemised quote — core material, shutter finish, hardware brand, and appliance integration listed separately — so you're comparing apples to apples across vendors.
